Doctors at Global EyeCare Optometry
Helen Cheng O.D.
Dr. Cheng is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified eye doctor licensed by the California Board of Optometry. She graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. She then received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley with recognition by Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. While in optometry school, Dr.Cheng traveled to Chile on a VOSH trip to bring eye care to the underprivileged.
Post graduation, Dr. Cheng advanced her training with completion of a residency at the Southern Arizona VA hospital where she specialized in low vision and ocular disease. She practices all aspects of primary care optometry including specialty fit contact lenses, computer vision, treatment of eye infections, dry eyes and allergies and consultant for cataract/LASIK. She also provides specialty contact lens fittings of Paragon Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) and Orthokeratology (Ortho-K).

On the personal side, Dr. Cheng was born in Taiwan and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. In her spare time, Dr. Cheng enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 kids. She enjoys hiking, snowboarding, traveling and dancing. Dr.Cheng is excited to provide exceptional eye care to adults and children at Global Eyecare Optometry in Pleasanton and San Jose!
Katherine Lee, O.D.
Dr. Katherine Lee always enjoyed visiting her eye doctor as a child. She developed a passion for health care and spent her youth volunteering at hospitals where she learned the importance of empathy.
Dr. Lee earned her Doctorate of Optometry (O.D.) degree from Southern California College of Optometry, and is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified eye doctor licensed by the California Board of Optometry. She completed her clinical training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, VA Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center, and at Kaiser Permanente.
Dr. Lee practices full scope optometry and specializes in the treatment and management of ocular disease such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, eye infections, dry eye syndrome, and ocular allergies. She has experience working closely with cataract and glaucoma surgeons, and can also speak Mandarin and Cantonese. Dr. Lee loves working with children and has performed many school vision screenings. She was part of a medical team that traveled to El Salvador to provide healthcare services for a children's orphanage and underserved communities. Dr. Lee also continues to volunteer at Remote Area Medical to better serve her community.
Dr. Lee has been an associate at Global Eyecare Optometry since 2011. She is committed to providing the best possible eye care for all her patients, and looks forward to serving you and your family. When Dr. Lee is not working she enjoys photography, playing the flute, spending time with her husband, and trying to keep up with her 2 kids.
Melissa Lau, O.D.
Dr. Melissa Lau is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified eye doctor licensed by the National and California State Board of Optometry. She completed her undergraduate studies at University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology. After college, Dr. Lau attended Southern California College of Optometry, where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree with cum laude honors. Her clinical rotations allowed her to serve the soldiers at a naval hospital in Okinawa, the Native American population at Hu Hu Kam Memoral Hospital, and veterans at VA Salt Lake City. Her clinical training shaped her to become a well-rounded eye care provider as she practiced primary eye care and treated ocular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. In addition, she has traveled to Fiji and Honduras to bring eye care services globally to those in need.
Dr. Lau practices full-scope optometry. She is trained in fitting various contact lens, including ortho-k lens, and in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular diseases. She also has experience co-managing cataract and refractive (LASIK) surgeries with ophthalmologists. She can speak Cantonese and Mandarin.
During her free time, Dr. Lau enjoys crafting, as well as exploring new sights & trying new restaurants with friends and family.
Jennifer Juang, O.D.
Dr. Jennifer Juang is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified eye doctor licensed by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and the California State Board of Optometry. She graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and went on to receive her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. During school, she worked as a volunteer to provide free vision screenings to homeless and low-income participants in Berkeley and San Francisco.
Dr. Juang completed her clinical rotations at various sites, including the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, Castle Family Health Center, Marin Community Clinics, Highland Hospital in Oakland, and Southeast Health Center in San Francisco, where she received extensive training in pediatrics, diabetic screening, glaucoma, and ocular disease. She practices the full scope of optometry, including contact lens fittings and treatment and management of various eye diseases. She has experience working with kids and can also speak Mandarin, Taiwanese, and optometric Spanish.
During her free time, Dr. Juang enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching movies, sightseeing, yoga, and piano.
